人類英文也可以用 mankind（聽發音）、humanity（聽發音）或 human race（聽發音）這幾種說法來表示，都是名詞用法，humanity 這個英文單字除了有人類的意思之外，還有人性或人道的意思，例如英文常說 humanity is overrated 翻譯成中文就是人性被高估了，如果出自於科幻片中的外星人或高等生物，意思就是人類被高估了，很有趣吧！？
英文中還有一種口語說法叫做 human being（聽發音），通常就是簡單的指＂人＂或＂人類＂，用法泛指 people 與 person，例如 a human being 就是指一個人。
